  1. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) is India’s only university specializing in the Transportation and Logistics, established under an Act of Parliament in 2022. Operating under the Ministry of Railways, GSV focuses on various sectors including Railways, Aviation, Ports, Shipping, Highways, Waterways, Logistics and multi-disciplinary research and training. A Central University established under an Act of Parliament in 2022 specifically established to create a resource pool of best-in-class professionals.
  2. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya offers multi-disciplinary programmes, both at UG and PG levels, designed to cater to the needs of India’s Transportation and Logistics the Institute follows a demand-driven curriculum, while aligning with industry priorities. To ensure best-in-class delivery of education, the Institute follows a highly experiential and unique inter-disciplinary pedagogical system that incorporates the latest technologies such as live classrooms and online programs and delivered by high-quality faculty with global exposure.
  3. GSV invites applications for the post of Professor of Practice (PoP) (Contractual Position) through a rolling advertisement in the cutting-edge areas of Transportation and Logistics, in the following areas/specializations (indicative only, and not exhaustive):

10. Aviation Engineering and Airports – Airport management, air traffic control, aviation technology, and airline operations, Aerodynamics, Air Engines, MRO, Safety.

13. Policy and Regulation –  Transportation policy formulation, regulatory frameworks, and public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the infrastructure sector.

Engagement Framework for Professor of Practice:

Position Professor of Practice (PoP)
No of Positions May be varied as per requirement of University (Rolling basis)
Type of engagement The Positions are purely on temporary and contractual basis (non-tenured appointment).
Eligibility · At least a Bachelor’s degree Engineering / Sciences. A Master’s or a Ph. D. degree would be preferred.

 

· Those who have proven expertise in their specific profession or role with at least 15 years of service/experience, preferably at a senior level, will be eligible for Professor of Practice.

· Distinguished experts who have made remarkable contributions in their professions from various fields engineering / science / technology domain/areas as mention above.

·Professors of Practice are expected to be top professionals (viz., CEO/CTO etc.,) with significant experience.

· Professors of Practice must be leaders who remain current with the best practices and emerging technological trends in their fields.
Selection methodology By the Faculty Standing Committee of GSV, chaired by the Vice Chancellor.
Term The Positions are purely on temporary and contractual basis; The Professor of Practice is a non-tenured appointment. The engagement will be initially for up to one year and extendable as approved by Competent Authority.
Compensation Consolidated compensation may be fixed considering their experience, eminence, the last drawn salary, pension etc., between ₹1.5L and ₹2.25L. In addition, they may be eligible for Transport Allowance as per rules.
Vacation Not entitled.
Leave Professor on contract/ eminent professor shall be eligible for 8 days of CL and 2 RH, every calendar year and EL, as accrued @2.5 days per completed month.
Academic activities · To establish COE (Centre of Excellence) in the cutting- edge area of domain specified by the University.

·   To significantly contribute in the establishment of state-of- the-art laboratories.

· To bring consultancy projects from corporates/ Ministries (like MoR, MoPSW, MoRTH etc.) and facilitate young faculty to execute projects smoothly.

· To develop courses and curriculum to meet the industry and societal needs and enable the HEIs to work with industry experts on research projects and consultancy services which will be mutually beneficial;

· To bring in distinguished experts from various fields such as engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, management, chartered accountancy (CA), civil services, armed forces, legal profession and public administration into the academic institutions;

· To enable the higher education institutions to formally associate with persons of eminence and encourage them to participate in experiential learning, research, training, skilling, entrepreneurship and extension and to play mentoring role.

· Involve in the development and designing of courses and curriculum. Introduce new courses and deliver lectures as per institutional policies.

 

· To encourage students in innovation and entrepreneurship projects & provide necessary mentorship for these activities.

 

· To focus on enhanced industry-academia collaborations.

 

· Conduct jointly in collaboration with regular faculty member of the institution, workshops, seminars, deliver special lectures and training Programs.

 

·Carryout joint research project or consultancy services in collaboration with the regular faculty member of the concerned HEI.

 

·Administrative or any other duties as assigned by the competent authority of the University.
Teaching Load 240 to 300 hrs per year (equivalent to 16 to 20 credits per year)
Review (Annual) Review by the University based on the overall requirements and on the feedback
TA/DA At the level of Professor/ Associate Professor as applicable by flight – Economy Class

Accommodation No campus accommodation (exemptions as decided by VC)
Any other entitlement Eligible            for       attending         conferences /   seminars under the Professional Development plan of GSV to be approved by VC on a case to case basis. Access to library facilities; mail id of GSV.
Termination On completion of the prescribed term or on one Month notice by either side.

  • Eligibility to apply for the positions are explained at Para 3 above.
  • Incomplete Applications or Applications received after the due date will not be entertained and be summarily rejected.
  • GATI SHAKTI VISHWAVIDYALAYA reserves the right to shortlist the candidates even with higher criteria than advertised and, also not to fill-up the positions advertised in case of non-availability of suitable candidates.
  • In case of higher number of applications, GSV reserves the right to shortlist the candidates adopting higher criteria than indicated in the advertisement to limit the number of candidates to reasonable level, for further stage(s) of recruitment
  • Also, GSV reserves the right to cancel the advertisement on a later date. No enquiries in this matter will be entertained.
  • Mere fulfilment of the above-mentioned qualifications/experience etc. does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. In case, the number of applications received is high, it may not be convenient or possible for the University to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement, through a shortlisting process. Candidates should, therefore, furnish all the qualifications and experience possessed in the relevant field, over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed.

  • Candidates, who are presently employed in Govt. / PSU / organisation under Government / Autonomous bodies etc., need to submit an NOC from the employer along with the Application or they must produce the NOC prior to joining.
  • Candidates are required to indicate and correspond on the email-id they use frequently as all correspondence will be made only by emails.
  • All supporting documents provided and the application form must bear full name and signature of the candidate on each page at the bottom.
  • GSV reserves the right to summarily reject the incomplete applications and also, to reject any or all applications without assigning any reason.
  • GSV reserves the right to waive/relax any conditions; GSV reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of vacancies or not fill the any position.
