Recruitment to the Position of Placement Officer (On Contract)

  1. In line with the Govt of India’s vision and established by the Indian Railways, GSV has been envisaged as an Avant-garde institution in the domain of transport education. Both as an idea and a Central University, it envisions to be a leader in transportation-focused applied education, training and research, by creating a resource pool of best-in-class professionals for the railways in particular and transportation sector in general. It needs no reiteration that being a university of first of its kind to shape empowered professionals in transportation domain, GSV has been conceptualized to act as an engine for growth in transportation and logistics that would usher India into a country with new age modes of transportation.
  2. As Indian Railways grooms GSV, it also becomes the site for live and experiential learning; a laboratory for innovative entrepreneurship; and a new identity of skilling manpower for rail and transport sectors. This momentous initiative by Indian Railways has heralded a new age of rail or transport research. Based on experiential learning, multi-disciplinary research, and academia-industry interface, GSV promises to help rewrite the destiny and future of Indian transportation.
  3. GSV offers multi-disciplinary programmes, both at UG and PG levels, designed to cater to the needs of India’s transportation sector. The Institute follows a demand-driven curriculum, while aligning with industry priorities. To ensure best-in-class delivery of education, the Institute follows a highly experiential and unique inter-disciplinary pedagogical system that incorporates the latest technologies such as live classrooms and online programs and delivered by high-quality faculty with global exposure.
  4. GSV invites applications from the eligible candidates for the position of Placement Officer (On Contract); for a period of 3 years, on a consolidated monthly compensation between Rs. 75,000/- and Rs 1,25,000/-, to be decided by the selection committee, considering the competence and experience of the candidate. The position is unreserved and the preferred age of the candidate is 45 years.
  5. The Minimum Educational Qualifications and Experience (Essential, Preferred, Desirable) etc. are as under.
  • Master’s degree with at least 55% marks, or its equivalent grade of B in UGC seven-point scale along with consistent good academic record [Essential].
  • Advanced graduate degree from a recognized University in Higher Education, Marketing, HR, Communication or related field [Preferred/ Desirable].
  • 10+ years of experience in higher education career management with a recognized institution, or industry background in a recruiting/HR leadership role.
  • Strong leadership skills and a track record of effectively staffing, building managing a diverse and talented team of professionals 10+ years of experience in higher education career management with a recognized institution, or industry background in a recruiting/HR leadership role.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to connect with a variety of audiences and be an effective representative of GSV with Executives and Corporate partners.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to deliver successful results on time and within budget.
  1. Primary Role and Responsibilities (indicative; not exhaustive):
  • Develop a strategic approach to the creation and delivery of career services for alumni and students.
  • Develop an annual strategic plan, program schedule and budget for serving all graduate students and alumni in preparing for career development, job search and employer interaction.
  • Develop and maintain extensive network of cohesive relationships with employers to effectively advocate for hiring GSV students and alumni for both entry-level opportunities and experienced positions.
  • Collaborate with GSV faculty and administrative units including academic programs, student life, marketing, and admissions to enhance the quality of student experiences, the delivery of professional skills training and employment opportunities.
  • Develop a system of measuring departmental achievements including evaluating, tracking and reporting on student and alumni progress and job placement during and after their time at GSV.
  • Supervise the use of technology for student counselling, job postings and coordination of employer activities.
  • Provide visible leadership and supervision to professional staff, and establish a transparent reporting system to the university leadership.

  2. GENERAL CONDITIONS / INFORMATION
  • Minimum eligibility to apply for the position is given at Para 5 above.
  • Incomplete Applications or Applications received after the due date will not be entertained and be summarily rejected.
  • GSV reserves the right to not to fill-up the positions advertised, in case of non-availability of suitable candidates or to cancel the advertisement. No enquiries, in this matter, will be entertained.
  • The date for determining the experience shall be the closing date of submission of online applications i.e. 28.02.2023.

  • Incumbent will be eligible for yearly enhancement in monthly compensation at the rate as decided by the competent authority.
  • Return (two-way) IIAC Class rail fare (by the shortest route) is reimbursable to outstation candidates invited for the interview. However, this may not be applicable in the case of online interviews.
  • Mere fulfilment of the above-mentioned qualifications/experience etc. does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. In case, the number of applications received is high, it may not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Candidates should, therefore, furnish all the qualifications and experience possessed in the relevant field, over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed.
  • Candidates, who are presently employed in Govt./Autonomous bodies etc., need to submit an NOC from the employer along with the Application or they must produce the NOC prior to the interview.
  • Relaxation in the preferred age, educational qualification and/or experience may be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates with the approval of the Competent Authority.
