Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya invites applications for the prestigious position of AMAZON – Chair Professor in Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management. We seek a distinguished academic or industry leader with a proven track record of excellence in warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management research, teaching, and industry engagement. The AMAZON Chair Professor is expected to be a thought leader, an accomplished researcher, an effective teacher, and a skilled administrator. Their role is crucial in shaping the future of warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management education and research, including involvement in a corporate sponsored university project on these areas with ability and experience in usage of deep tech solutions in this field.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Post Graduate in Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management or a related field with an outstanding experience in Academia or Industry.
An outstanding record of scholarly publications, research grants, execution of large-scale real life industry projects in Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management sector.
Extensive experience in Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management industry, preferably at a senior level.
More than 25 years of practical experience in handling Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management. Proven leadership and mentorship abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver innovative undergraduate, postgraduate and executive training programs in warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management technology and management.
Lead and inspire a dynamic research team focused on cutting-edge warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management research.
Establish strong industry collaborations and partnerships for expanding the scope of University and enriching the warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management sector.
Serve as a thought leader and advocate for the warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management industry. Contribute to the university’s strategic vision and growth.
The Chair Professor will also teach in the university in the areas of Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management.
Terms & Conditions:
This position is for 12 months’ contract.
Compensation: Best in academia, and supplemented by contingency grant for travel & research.
Functions of the AMAZON Chair Professor
The AMAZON Chair Professor in Warehouse, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management holds a prestigious academic position that typically involves a blend of teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities. Academic Leadership
Visionary Leadership: Providing strategic direction for the warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management department or program.
Curriculum Development: Designing and overseeing the warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management curriculum to ensure it aligns with industry standards and academic rigor.
Faculty Development: Mentoring and supporting faculty members in their teaching and research endeavours.
Research Promotion: Encouraging and facilitating research activities within the warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management field.
Teaching and Research
Advanced Teaching: Delivering specialized courses in warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management -related subjects.
Research Excellence: Conducting ground-breaking research in warehouse, logistics, transportation and supply chain management science, technology, or management.
Publication: Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Student Mentorship: Guiding and advising Ph.D. and postgraduate students in their research projects.
Industry Engagement
Foster strategic partnerships and long-term collaborations with leading corporations, government agencies, and industry consortia in warehouse, logistics. transportation, and supply chain management.
Actively engage with industry stakeholders to identify emerging challenges, co- develop innovative solutions, and translate academic research into practical, high-impact applications-particularly through the corporate-sponsored university project leveraging deep tech solutions (such as Al, IoT, blockchain, automation, predictive analytics and digital twins).
Secure and manage industry-funded research grants, joint projects, and sponsored initiatives to drive applied research and technology adoption in the sector.
Serve as a bridge between academia and industry by organizing executive workshops, industry advisory boards, guest lectures, internships, capstone projects, and collaborative innovation labs to enhance knowledge exchange and talent pipelines.
Provide expert advisory and consulting services to industry partners on strategic supply chain optimization, resilience, sustainability, digital transformation, and deep tech implementation.
Promote technology transfer, commercialization of research outcomes, and policy advocacy to advance best practices and standards in warehouse, logistics, transportation, and supply chain management at national and global levels.
Cultivate a network of industry mentors, alumni, and thought leaders to enrich university programs, support student career development, and position Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya as a premier hub for industry-relevant education and research in these domains.
GATI SHAKTI VISHWAVIDYALAYA reserves the right to select its own faculty as Amazon Chair Professor.

General Terms & Conditions:
- The AMAZON Chair Professor shall abide by the general conduct rules and information security act and other restrictions applicable to GSV employees.
- During the period of engagement, he/she shall not be engaged in any private business or professional activity. The AMAZON Chair Professor will observe the office timings, holidays of GSV.
- The appointment will be for a period of 12 months from the date of joining.
- The engagement is purely of temporary nature. The services of the AMAZON Chair Professor may be terminated by either side by giving a month’s notice or a month’s salary in lieu of the notice period. If the notice is for a period less than a month, salary in lieu of the notice period will be paid to the extent the notice falls short of a month. The decision of GSV in this regard shall be final and binding on the contractual staff.
- Headquarters of the AMAZON Chair Professor shall be GSV, Vadodara and in case he/she is required to perform journey/tour in connection with official duties, his/her TA/DA entitlement shall be as applicable to the officer as per rules.
- Incidental Leave of 18 days per annum (@ 1.5 days per completed month of service) shall be admissible. Leave will be credited only after completion of a calendar month and not in advance. No other kind of leave shall be admissible. Accumulation of leave beyond the calendar year shall not be allowed. On termination/ completion of the contract/engagement, the AMAZON Chair Professor shall not be entitled to the benefit of encashment of the un-availed leave.
- The AMAZON Chair Professor will have to undertake not to disclose, divulge or make public, except under legal obligations, any information that he may acquire in course of his/her work without the written consent of GSV.
- The AMAZON Chair Professor shall act and function with professionalism, utmost care, skill, honesty, good faith and integrity as well as high moral and ethical standards.
- The AMAZON Chair Professor shall abide by the rules and provisions of GSV and maintain discipline and absolute integrity in his/her conduct during the period of his/her engagement in GSV.
- The AMAZON Chair Professor should maintain confidentiality/absolute secrecy of the work carried out by him/her. He/she shall be bound to hand over all the records/accounts handled by him/her to the designated person of GSV before the expiry of the contract period and before final payment is released by GSV.
- The services of the AMAZON Chair Professor shall be terminated by GSV, at any point of time, if:
the services rendered by him/her are not satisfactory, or any declaration or information furnished by him/her proves to be false or having been wilfully suppressed, or there is any breach of any of the terms and conditions of contractual engagement or he/she is found to be involved in any act of indiscipline or misconduct, or in any act considered unbecoming of him/her.
- The candidate is required to produce all original documents for verification at the time of the interview. The candidate must establish the authenticity of his/her credentials to the satisfaction of the Verification Committee and fulfil all prescribed eligibility criteria. Candidate with incomplete, unclear, or ambiguous documents shall not be permitted to appear for the interview.
- The interview shall be conducted only in physical mode. No request for an online interview shall be entertained.
- No TA / DA is payable for attending the interview.
- The successful candidate is expected to join the duties with immediate effect after promulgation of result.
