The norms apply to students, faculty, and staff effective from 1st August 2025. 

These rules and regulations outline the usage policies for all sports facilities at Gati Shakti  Vishwavidyalaya (GSV). These guidelines aim to ensure equitable access, safety, and proper  maintenance of the facilities for all authorized users. 

1. General Eligibility and Access 

∙ Eligibility: Access to GSV sports facilities is limited to currently enrolled students,  faculty (immediate family members, i.e., dependents), and permanent/contractual staff  of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. 

∙ Identification: A valid GSV identity card must be presented upon entry to any sports  facility and/or upon request by authorized personnel. Unauthorized entry or use of  facilities is strictly prohibited. 

∙ Fee Structure (Semester-Wise): A mandatory, non-refundable gymnasium fee of INR  3000 (Three Thousand only) is required per semester. The tennis facility fee is  100/slot (30 minutes). 

∙ The fee must be paid at the beginning of each semester through the Union Bank of India online banking system. 

∙ Access to the gymnasium and tennis courts will be granted only upon successfully  paying the fee. 

2. Semester-Wise Regulations and Usage 

The sports facility operations are structured around the academic calendar. 

Odd Semester: 

∙ Registration and Access: GSV users must register themselves and pay the registration  fee in full to use the gymnasium within the first week of the semester to gain active  membership. For convenience, users may also register at a later date/week/month;  however, the full amount of the non-refundable fee, i.e., INR 3000 or part thereof, will  be levied. No pro-rate fee is applicable in any circumstances.  

∙ Facility Scheduling: From time to time, the sports section will announce the operating  hours and schedule for general usage, organized sports events, and any other activity. 

∙ Vacation and Exam Period Usage: Facility operating hours will be adjusted during  semester breaks and examination periods. Users must adhere to the revised schedule as  announced by the Sports section. 

Even Semester: 

∙ Membership Renewal: Access to the winter semester requires membership renewal by paying an INR 3000 fee at the start of the semester.

3. Specific Facility Rules 

Gymnasium: 

∙ The gymnasium is exclusively for individuals aged 18 and above. Minors (under 18  years) are not permitted to use the gym facility. 

∙ Users must enter with a signed identity card issued by the Sports section. ∙ Users must follow the given schedule by the Sports section. 

∙ Users must enter their details in the log register before and after using the facility.  ∙ Proper gym attire and sports shoes are mandatory. Jeans, sandals, or formal wear are  prohibited inside the gym. 

∙ Users must always carry a towel and wipe down equipment after use. ∙ Weights must be handled with care and re-racked immediately after use. ∙ Clicking photos and video shooting is not permitted. 

∙ Users will take full responsibility for any accidents during the activity at the  gymnasium. In no way will GSV be accountable/held responsible for any accidents.  

Badminton Courts: 

∙ Only non-marking sports shoes are allowed on indoor courts. 

∙ Users must adhere to the court reservation schedule and time limits to ensure fair usage. ∙ Nets and court equipment must be handled carefully. 

∙ All the users must bring their own equipment (racquets, shuttlecock, shoes). ∙ University-provided equipment (for executive trainee only), if available, must be signed  out and returned immediately after use in good condition. 

Tennis: 

∙ A ‘slot’ is defined as a 30-minute period of court usage. 

∙ The cost per slot is INR 100/- (Fifty Indian Rupees). 

∙ Court availability will be displayed via notice board. 

∙ Slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis upon successful payment. ∙ All payments must be made in advance at the time of booking. 

∙ To ensure fair access, a single user/group (max 2 people) may be limited to 2  consecutive slots (based on availability) at any given time. 

∙ Players must vacate the court promptly at the end of their booked slot to allow the next  players to begin on time. 

∙ Proper tennis attire and footwear are required on the courts. 

4. Code of Conduct and Safety 

∙ Behavior: All users must be disciplined and respectful. Aggressive behavior, misuse  of facilities, or disturbing other users will not be tolerated. Disciplinary action shall be  taken against the user, and they will be barred permanently from using the sports  facility. 

 Safety and Health: 

∙ Users are responsible for assessing their physical condition and consulting a physician  before engaging in sports activities. 

∙ The university is not liable for injuries sustained due to failure to follow safety  guidelines or negligent behavior. 

Prohibited Items: 

Smoking, consumption of alcohol, use of tobacco products, or unauthorized substances are  strictly prohibited within all sports facilities. 

5. Timings: 

These timings are subject to change as decided by the competent authority. 

6. Rules & Regulations for Sports Facility Bicycle Usage 

Currently enrolled students and regular faculty/staff of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya are  eligible for bicycle usage. All GSV users must sign a register accepting responsibility for the  bicycle during their use period. 

Issuance, Return Procedure and Usage Guidelines: 

∙ Issue Point: Bicycles will be issued from the designated "Cycle Bay" at the Sports  Facility. 

∙ GSV ID: Users must present their GSV ID card to check out a bicycle. ∙ Inspection: Users must inspect the bicycle (brakes, tires, chain, etc.) before acceptance  and report any pre-existing damage immediately. 

∙ Return: Bicycles must be returned to the same Cycle Bay before closing time on the  same day. Overnight retention is strictly prohibited. 

∙ Authorized Area: Bicycles are strictly for use within the GSV campus premises only.  Taking bicycles outside the campus gates is prohibited. 

∙ Purpose: Primarily for commuting between academic blocks, hostels, and sports  facilities, or for recreational cycling on campus roads and tracks.

Safety: Ride at a safe, controlled speed, especially in pedestrian zones. Use the bell to  alert pedestrians. Park only in designated bicycle stands, and avoid usage during  adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, storms). 

∙ Care and Maintenance: Users are responsible for the gentle handling and care of the  bicycle. Do not expose the bicycle to unnecessary stress, jumps, or rough terrain not  meant for the cycle. In case of a minor breakdown (e.g., chain slip, puncture) during  use, immediately inform the Sports Office/Cycle Bay for assistance. 

∙ Damage, Loss, and Penalties: Any accident, damage, or malfunction must be reported  to the Sports Office immediately upon return. Users will be held financially liable for  any damage/loss due to negligence, vandalism, or improper use. The cost will be  determined by the Sports Office and charged to the user's account. If a bicycle is stolen  while in the user's custody, the user must file an official police report, and a copy must  be submitted to the Sports Office immediately. The user may be held liable for the  replacement cost. 

∙ General Conditions: The university is not responsible for any personal injury,  accident, or loss of personal property incurred while using the bicycles. Users ride at  their own risk. The Sports Office reserves the right to modify these rules for the welfare  of all users. Bicycles are available on a "First-Come, First-Served" basis. These rules  are supplemental to the general discipline code of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. 

7. Violations and Penalties 

The university, in coordination with the Faculty In-Charge, sports club GSV, reserves the right  to take disciplinary action, including suspension or revocation of access to sports facilities, for  individuals found violating these rules. Damage to university property will incur fines and/or  additional disciplinary measures. 

Note: The GSV Sports Faculty In-charge reserves the right to update these rules and  regulations as necessary, with changes communicated to all users.
